Frequently Asked Questions

Which Cameras Are Supported?

Because the quality of the video you see while monitoring a live stream, and the video that is recorded and stored for playback is in direct proportion to the quality of the camera, we are very selective in which cameras we support. Currently, Acti, Axis, Dahua, D-Link, Hanwha, Vivotek, Zuum and our own series of OberCloud cameras are supported. Your local dealer will help you choose the right camera for your needs and budget.

What is required at the site?

Because there is no additional middleware required, all that is required is that the site have a broadband internet connection. The only other item required are the cameras.

What happens if the internet goes down?

If the internet goes down any recorded video will not be able to be uploaded to the cloud; however, if you installed OberCloud cameras, the video will be stored on the microSD card. It can be downloaded when the internet is restored. Additionally, you can receive a notification informing you that your camera is offline.

Do you record real video or just images?

This is one of the many added-value features of OberCloud. All of the cameras that are approved for our system record and upload real video. You won’t find any choppy images as an OberCloud customer!

how much bandwidth do i need?

As a rule of thumb, you will need anywhere from 512KB to 1.0MB of upload bandwidth, per camera for high quality video.

Can i save my recorded video?

If you have the appropriate authority level to do so, you can download any recorded video.

How long can my video be stored?

Our current storage options are for 10, 20, 30 or 60 days.
